It is always a special event when a new Brother joins a Circle. So all the Catenian Brothers at the February meeting were delighted to witness the enrolment of Stephen Whelan. Stephen and wife Grania, seen here with Bro. President Pat and Sheila Feighery, live in Romsey.
At Monday’s dinner, past President Graham Palethorpe presented Peter and Jenni Fincham with a cheque in the sum of £2,157 to DEBRA, his President’s
charity for 2016/17.
Additionally Rev.Roger Stone, Port Chaplain for the Apostleship of the Sea gave a very interesting talk on his work at the various ports on the south coast, mainly focussing on Southampton. Seen here with Harry Harrison VP.
At the February meeting, the Circle was pleased to see the familiar faces of Brothers from daughter Circle, New Forest. Pictured here are New Forest President, Bill Pignatelli (left) and Membership Secretary, Nick Cochlan.
The Circle was also delighted to receive a visit by two Brothers from Province 8: Reading’s Bro. President Jim Hill (with wife Sheila) and Bro. Vice-President Frank Hogan. Bro. Jim was delighted to be reunited with a friend and a teacher from his schooldays in Southampton, Here he is (left) with Southampton Circle’s Malcolm Forster who taught Jim maths!
and finally…….CathSoc Chaplain, Sr. Emiliana, and CathSoc student, Joanne Ellison, joined the Circle guests as part of the CathSoc Affiliation. Joanne, pictured with Margaret Lillie, said that she had thoroughly enjoyed her first visit to the Southampton Circle and, as she will be at Southampton University for a few more years, she hopes to see the Brothers and wives at some of the CathSoc masses and joint events during the forthcoming year.
