It was an unusual occasion on 6 October when the Southampton Circle gathered on a Saturday lunchtime to celebrate the presentation of Peter O’Connor’s 60 year scroll. A short form of the meeting took place in the dining room with ladies present – the first time in the history of the Southampton Circle. The dinner was attended by Peter’s daughter and brother-in-law as well as four brothers and three wives from Basingstoke and Isle of Wight Circles. Brother President, Harry Harrison, read out letters of congratulations from both the National President and the Provincial Director. Brother Peter thanked Brother President for his speech which evoked memories of Peter’s year as Circle President in 1977 and also thanked the Circle for the wonderful years he has enjoyed as a Brother.
